Sketches in Thyme #147

Wanna hear a secret?  I used summer papers for a winter page!!!  I know, I was shocked too!  And you know what else? I love how it turned out!

Here's a close up of the journaling:
Brenna and I were going to go too, to cheer them on, but she puked all over the floor that morning so I didn't think it was a good day for a road trip!

I haven't played along with Sketches in Thyme for a while, but when I saw this sketch early in the month, I knew I wanted to use it!

Yay, three layouts completed this month!  With summer fast approaching, I'm not sure how much I'll get done, but I'm determined to get at least this many done next month.  Wish me luck!

"I Am Enjoying The Ride" for Stuck?! Sketches

Here's another layout I started on NSD but didn't finish until a few days later, and I have to say, I'm absolutely loving how it turned out!

I used this lovely sketch from Stuck?! Sketches:
I always enjoy working with their sketches!

For this page, I wanted to focus on the great time we had as a family in Barkerville for Canada Day.  Despite Brenna puking all over herself during the drive down, the intense heat, and the long hours in the car, we really enjoyed the experience - I want to go again this year!

Some close-ups of the details:

I'll probably have to make another page at a later date to tell more of the story, maybe a SMASH page with some of the brochures and things I kept in my purse, but for now, I'm happy to at least have this much down!

Thanks for looking, and have a great weekend!

"Trouble" for NSD and Sketch 'n' Scrap

Most people reading this blog probably realize that last Saturday was (inter)National Scrapbook Day, but just in case you didn't, yeah, it is a thing!  I had kind of forgotten about it (I know, bad scrapbooker!) until I started reading my blog roll in the morning, and then shouted out to my family, "It's NSD, I am going to scrapbook ALL.  Day!"  You can imagine how well that went over.  So my ambitions were somewhat downgraded to, "Okay fine, but I want to make at least one page."  And here you have it:
I've been wanting to scrap these photos for a while, and finally I found the perfect sketch to go with them:
It's from Sketch 'N' Scrap, and as you can see, I didn't deviate much.  Papers are from Simple Stories, twine and wood veneer by Close to My Heart, glitter tape from Michael's, and a ticket stub from Tim Holtz.

A couple close ups of the journaling:

I'm quite happy with how this page turned out, and the fact that I finished it in one day!  I even had time to start another layout, but haven't touched it since.  Maybe tomorrow...
